Join us for the Food Access Summit: Nourishing Community & Cultural Foodways a transformative gathering that centers food justice, cultural foodways, and community resilience. This summit will explore the intersections of food sovereignty, indigenous and ancestral food practices, and equitable access to nourishment.
We are honored to feature Dra. Claudia Serrato, a culinary anthropologist, Indigenous plant-based chef, and public scholar dedicated to decolonizing diets through ancestral knowledge, and Felicia Montes, an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and co-founder of Botánica del Barrio, whose work bridges art, activism, and traditional healing practices to empower communities through medicinal herbs.
Through interactive workshops, a panel featuring a Cal State LA student, staff and faculty, community resources, and a student poster session, this summit will showcase the vital role of traditional foodways and community-led initiatives in addressing systemic inequities in food access. Come be part of this powerful conversation—where food is not just sustenance, but resistance, culture, and healing.
