Day 1: Birds and Seeds ๐ฆ๐ฑ
Morning Symposium (9:30 AM - 11:30 AM)
- Talk by Eric Wood on urban ornithology
- Talk by Kirsten Fischer on LA native plants
- Discussion on native plants in the campus food garden
- Native seed packets giveaway from the Theodore Payne Foundation
Lunch Break (12:30 PM - 1:30 PM)
- Light snacks and refreshments
Afternoon Session (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
- Seed Workshop with Theodore Payne Foundation & Artemisia Nursery
- Bird Tours on campus led by Eric's graduate students
- Installation of a Peregrine Falcon camera on the old administration building
Art Exhibition ๐จ
- Wildlife photography exhibition at JFK Library
Day 2: Planting for Sustainability ๐ฟ๐ฑ
Morning Session (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
- Plant edible and medicinal indigenous shrubs donated by Northeast Trees
- Install a composting system as a campus sustainability showcase
- Create two raised beds with perennial edible plants (labeled for food security awareness)
