Day 1: Birds and Seeds ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒฑ

Morning Symposium (9:30 AM - 11:30 AM)

  • Talk by Eric Wood on urban ornithology
  • Talk by Kirsten Fischer on LA native plants
  • Discussion on native plants in the campus food garden
  • Native seed packets giveaway from the Theodore Payne Foundation

Lunch Break (12:30 PM - 1:30 PM)

  • Light snacks and refreshments

Afternoon Session (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM)

  • Seed Workshop with Theodore Payne Foundation & Artemisia Nursery
  • Bird Tours on campus led by Eric's graduate students
  • Installation of a Peregrine Falcon camera on the old administration building

Art Exhibition ๐ŸŽจ

  • Wildlife photography exhibition at JFK Library

Day 2: Planting for Sustainability ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฑ

Morning Session (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

  • Plant edible and medicinal indigenous shrubs donated by Northeast Trees
  • Install a composting system as a campus sustainability showcase
  • Create two raised beds with perennial edible plants (labeled for food security awareness)
