Mission
The Cal State LA Nursing Alumni Network exists to support the mission of the California State University, Los Angeles and the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing in their efforts to transform individual lives and build stronger and healthier communities through scholarship, research, and proactive community engagement. We also serve the alumni through establishing opportunities to reunite, engage, and network with a community of nursing professionals in order to contribute and advance the art and science of the profession of Nursing.
All alumni, current students, staff, and faculty are invited to join any of our alumni networks.

Assistant Professor
Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing at Cal State LA
Dr. Ronda Harden is a registered nurse with 34 years of work experience in the maternity and newborn care specialty area. She has been a nurse educator for over two decades with the School of Nursing at Cal State LA, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has also served as a student advisor with the Cal State LA Honors College.
Dr. Harden is a triple alumna of the CSU system and a double alumna of Cal State LA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education from Cal State LA and earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from San Jose State University. She was selected as a CSU Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program Fellow and is a member of the Cal State LA Nu Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Dr. Harden has achieved professional growth and advancement throughout her nursing career, including staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse educator, leadership mentor, and department clinical supervisor in obstetrical services.
Joe Kastely, MSN, BSN, RN, PHN, CMSRN (’19), Co-Chair
Lecturer and Immersive Learning Center Director

Joe Kastely is a registered nurse with a decade of work experience in medical/surgical and progressive care nursing, with a focus on respiratory care.
Joe has been a lecture faculty member for the past six years with the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing at Cal State LA, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has also served as a coordinator for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Cal State LA.
He is a double alumnus of the CSU system, earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cal State Long Beach and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Cal State LA. He is a member of the Cal State LA Nu Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Joe is committed to creating engaging learning environments in and out of the classroom and believes that helping individuals develop a growth mindset by focusing on praising effort and incremental improvement is crucial to creating equitable opportunities for all learners.
Victoria Marroquin, DNP, RN, MSN Ed, PHN (’22), Co-Chair
Lecturer
Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing at Cal State LA
Dr. Victoria Marroquin is a registered nurse with nearly two decades of work experience in the medical surgical/orthopedics and telemetry specialty areas. She has been a nurse educator for the past eight years with the School of Nursing at Cal State LA.
Dr. Marroquin earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the CSU Consortium Program, comprised of Cal State LA, Cal State Long Beach, and Cal State Fullerton. She is a member of the Cal State LA Nu Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nursing Association, and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.
Dr. Marroquin has achieved professional growth and advancement throughout her nursing career, including staff nurse, charge nurse, preceptor/educator for the Versant New Graduate Program, nurse educator, and health specialist for the Head Start Program.

This session is designed to inform both novice and experienced nurses in the professional development of self and others in nursing. The next steps of professional development can often be difficult and guidance to do so scarce. With decades of collective experience in nursing professional development, Dr. Tayyeb and Dr.Recinos will guide a discussion that will inform, motivate, and empower nurses in taking the next step into their professional careers.
