Student Fees

Students are required to pay tuition and fees before registering for classes* unless awarded sufficient financial aid grants, loans, or scholarships; sponsored by a third party; or participating in a payment plan to cover full tuition and fees. Partial or non-payment of tuition and fees by the billing deadline date may result in a hold placed on the student's account, possible disenrollment from the current term, and forfeiture of tuition and fees payments already made. Students may also become ineligible to participate in a payment plan for two consecutive terms.

*Students are not required to prepay for Fall 2024 tuition and fees for enrollment through July 2024. Prepayment will be required for Fall 2024 enrollment from August 2024 forward.

Students who do not plan to attend any classes must drop all classes before the first day of instruction to avoid prorated of full tuition and fee charges. Students who drop all courses on the first day of the term and up to the 60% point will be charged a prorated fee based on the date of the drop. Please refer to the Refund Procedure available on the Financial Aid Disbursements and Student Refunds page.

It is the student's responsibility to drop classes, regardless of the reason, by the published deadlines to avoid charges or to be eligible for a full or prorated refund. Failure to track your enrollment and finances on your GET student account may result in charges and holds that will withhold permission to register for future terms and services offered by the institution from anyone owing fees.

Fall Semester 2024 instruction term dates are August 20, 2024 through December 14, 2024. We will begin accepting tuition and fees payments on March 27, 2024. A $25.00 late fee begins August 5, 2024 for continuing students, and August 20, 2024 for new and returning students.

Please note: the Fall 2024 tuition and fees payment due date has been extended from July 29, 2024 to September 12, 2024. Students will not be disenrolled due to non-payment prior to the September 12, 2024 due date.

Please note that all student tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after fees are initially charged or initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees. All listed fees, other than mandatory systemwide fees, are subject to change without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, or the Presidents, as appropriate. Changes in mandatory systemwide fees will be made in accordance with the requirements of the Working Families Student Fee Transparency and Accountability Act (Sections 66028 - 66028.6 of the Education Code).

Tuition and Fees Billing

You may view your tuition and fees as well as other financial information on your GET student account. Please note: billing statements are available to download on GET each term after the add deadline; billing statements are not mailed.

Students who have an outstanding Tuition and Fees balance after the term's add deadline, established in the Schedule of Classes, will receive an email notification to their Cal State LA email address. Partial or non-payment of tuition and fees by the billing deadline date may result in a hold placed on the student's account, possible disenrollment from the current term, and forfeiture of tuition and fees payments already made.

Students who anticipate financial aid funds must verify their award status with the Financial Aid Office before the billing due date to prevent disenrollment from classes.

Housing Billing

Students who are interested in the Housing facility may apply online during the open application period. Details and links to the License Agreement may be found on the Housing website. If you would like a tour of the facility, you may call the Housing office directly at (323) 343-4800 to make a reservation. The office is located in Phase II of the Housing complex located at 5300 Paseo Rancho Castilla.

All residents will be billed in advance for all charges each term.

Residents have four payment plans to choose from – annual (entire year paid in advance), once per semester, installment (twice per semester), and financial aid. Charges are placed in advance for the next semester. A $20.00 late fee will be assessed if payment is not received by the posted due date, and a hold will be placed on the student’s account. All Financial Aid students are charged for the next semester’s rent prior to the first Financial Aid disbursement. If Financial Aid does not cover the entire amount, a bill will be sent for the balance due. A hold will be placed if the balance is not paid by the due date.

All residents with an outstanding balance will be sent an email notification to their Cal State LA email address each month and may download the billing statement on their GET account. Students may pay online or obtain a housing deposit slip from the Housing Office before making a payment at One-Stop Financial Service.

For information regarding Housing charges, please contact the One-Stop Financial Services.

Sponsored Billings

If you have a company or organization that would like to be billed directly for your tuition and fees, please submit an authorization letter to One-Stop Financial Services, Student Services Building, Room #2380. A third-party sponsor agreement or authorization letter of services must be received prior to registering for classes and no later than the census date. You may email the agreement to Cory Evans or fax (323) 343-6491.

Please note: If your sponsor does not pay some or all of your tuition and fees, it will be your responsibility to pay for the outstanding balance, and a financial hold may be placed on your account.

For questions, please contact the One-Stop Financial Services at (323) 343-3630.

Information Needed on the Authorization Letter From Sponsor

  • Student's full name
  • Student’s CIN
  • Period covered (term and/or date range)
  • Maximum amount of coverage for specified term and/or date range
  • Types of tuition and fees charges covered or not covered
  • Name of sponsor (name of student’s company, employer, campus department, etc. that is paying student’s fees)
  • Sponsor billing address (must be a valid mailing address; invoice will be sent directly to sponsor)
  • Sponsor contact details: contact person, phone number, and email address where sponsor can be reached

Veterans

If you are a Veteran or a dependent of a Veteran, you may be eligible for financial assistance. Please visit the Veterans Resource Center for more information, located in King Hall D147, or call (323) 343-5080.

Military Tuition Assistance

To obtain federal military tuition assistance, you need to visit your installation's education office in order to receive college counseling and develop an education plan. Students planning to use military tuition assistance benefits will need to contact the One-Stop Financial Services prior to registering for classes. Once approved by their designated installation's education office, please submit your approved authorization form to Cory Evans in One-Stop Financial Services, Student Services Building, Room #2380.

The CSU has partnered with the Department of Defense (DOD) to establish a set CSU Military Student per Unit Tuition Rate:

CSU Military Student per Unit Tuition Rate 2023-2024

CSU Military Student per Unit Tuition Rate 2024-2025

Should a student or former student fail to pay a fee or a debt owed to the institution, the institution may "withhold permission to register, to use facilities for which a fee is authorized to be charged, to receive services, materials, food or merchandise of any combination of the above from any person owing a debt" until the debt is paid (see Title 5, California Code of Regulations, Section 42380 and 42381).

Prospective students who register for courses offered by the university are obligated to pay fees associated with registration for those courses. Failure to cancel registration in any course for an academic term prior to the first day of the academic term gives rise to an obligation to pay student fees, including any tuition for the reservation of space in the course.

The institution may withhold permission to register or other services offered by the institution from anyone owing fees or another debt to the institution. If a person believes he or she does not owe all or part of an asserted unpaid obligation, that person may contact (323) 343-5357. The One-Stop Financial Services, or another office on campus to which the staff may refer the person, will review all pertinent information provided by the person and available to the campus and advise the person of its conclusions.

Students who have tuition and fees obligations to the University will be billed.  Payment must be made by the due date printed on the billing statement accessible via GET student center. Students' failure to pay by the established deadline is cause for disenrollment from the current term and forfeiture of tuition and fees payments already made.  Students who are disenrolled may become ineligible to participate in a payment plan for two consecutive terms.  Disenrollment means the permanent loss of credit for classes taken for the term involved.

Any check, ACH electronic check, debit card, and/or credit card payment returned by the bank for any reason is considered a dishonored item. The University will send a notification of the returned item, which must be redeemed within ten days.

Checks for which a 'stop payment' has been placed on tuition and fees will result in immediate disenrollment for the term involved and a hold placed on the student's record pending payment of the services charge.

Students are required to pay the full amount of the original transaction (except on stop payments for tuition and fees) plus a $25.00 service charge for the first dishonored item and $35.00 for each subsequent item. A $20.00 service fee will be charged for dishonored credit card payments. Payment must be made by cash, money order, or cashiers' check only. Failure to pay for the dishonored item by the deadline date may result in disenrollment from the term involved or a hold being placed on the student's record.
